The Sirens Song



It all seemed to begin so softly.
Barely audible at first,
Like the sound of midnight black
dead of the night houses
or unremembered kisses
from never close encounters.

A sirens song.
Just a perfume sweet day dream
blowing through Augusts thick pillow soft air
dandelion down dancing through forget-me-not blue
Blowing over dust grey flagstones of back streets
across the ocean wide greenness of L17
mixing with its sound of children tumbling
over summer warm daisy carpets
of ice-cream parks.

As days move through cooler air
Birds pack their songs into suitcases
Check out of spring made nests
Leave,like fickle lovers

The sirens song
Now louder, but fresh
like new sheets
or mornings first gentle touch
filling still warm bedrooms.
Tactile and dream-fresh
Delicate as a first kiss
Fills the day
with all of its beautiful possibility’s
and a promise of an end
to eternal wandering
